Despite the unpredictable skies, we had a fantastic evening for our Shanklin Carnival Week fundraising walk in aid of Aspire Ryde. A wonderful 65 people joined us to set off on the scenic night time walk.
With the weather looking uncertain, we made the decision to set some walkers off a little earlier than planned. By the end of the evening 65 walkers had completed the route, as daylight faded into night. Many commented on how magical it was to experience the walk in both light and darkness – with the route providing stunning views and a unique atmosphere.
We were delighted to welcome several holidaymakers who said how much they enjoyed being part of such a friendly, community event.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we raised over £350 for Aspire Ryde. A huge thank you goes to The Steamer Inn for their warm hospitality and a fantastic BBQ, and to WA Food for kindly donating delicious burgers for the event.
It was a wonderful evening that brought together local residents, visitors, and supporters, all making a difference for our charity’s work in the community. Rain or shine, events like this remind us how special the Isle of Wight is, and how much can be achieved when people come together.
We’re already looking forward to the next one!
