Sorrel (Rumex acetosa) – These perennial herbs are grown for their tangy, slightly citrusy tasting leaves. It grows to about 60 centimetres high, with roots that run deep into the ground.
This is an easy plant to grow from seed. Details of how to do that can be found on the RHS website.
The leaves are perfect for adding a kick to salads, sauces and egg dishes. Try making lentil and sorrel soup, sorrel pesto or just adding a few torn leaves to a green salad.
